The Greek and Roman Pantheons


  • The Titans -- The Elder Gods known for their incredible strength and enormous size, they include Kronos/Saturn, Ocean and his wife Tethys, Hyperion, Mnemosyne(memory), Themis(justice) and Iapetus(father of Atlas and Prometheus).

  • The Olympians -- There are twelve great Olympians who make up the divine family:

  • Zeus/Jupiter -- The chief god and lord of the sky, he wields the powerful thunderbolt.

  • Poseidon/Neptune -- The ruler of the sea and underground rivers, he always carries his trident which he uses to shake and shatter whatever he pleases.

  • Hades/Pluto -- The ruler of the underworld and the dead. He is also the God of Wealth because of the precious metals hidden within the earth which is his domain.

  • Hestia/Vesta -- The Goddess of the Hearth, symbol of the home and a virgin goddess.

  • Hera/Juno -- Jupiter's wife and sister. She is the protectress of marriage and married women.

  • Ares/Mars -- The God of War and a ruthless god, he was revered more by the Romans than the Greeks.

  • Athena/Minerva -- The Virgin Goddess of the City and protectress of civilized life, handicrafts and agriculture, she is the embodiment of wisdom, reason and purity.

  • Apollo -- Phoebus Apollo is the God of Light and Truth. Twin brother of Diana and associated with the Sun, he is a master musician, healer and archer.

  • Aphrodite/Venus -- The Goddess of Love and Beauty who sprang from the foam of the sea.

  • Hermes/Mercury -- The graceful and swift in motion Messenger God and the shrewdest and most cunning Master Thief. Also the God and Protector of Commerce and Traders.

  • Artemis/Diana -- Apollo's twin sister, she is the fierce virgin huntress of the forests, protectress of animals and children, and Goddess of the Moon. She is also associated with fertility.

  • Hephaestus/ Vulcan -- The God of Fire and the metalsmith to the immortals, his forge is said to be under a volcano.
