DREAM PILLOWS

Dream pillows are easy to make and can be used to relax, conquer insomnia and induce prophetic dreams. Here you will find an assortment of recipes. Experimentation is encouraged to find the best single herb or blend for you and your purpose. A list of herbs specifically for sleep and dreams is included for guidance. Dream pillows can be placed inside your regular pillow but the best way to get the effect of the herbs is to breathe them in deeply and to sleep with your head resting on the pillow.

*These herbs are intended for external use only and should not be taken internally without researching their properties further. You may want to read the included herb list and learn more about the herbs before making your pillows.*

Prophetic and Magical Dreamwork Pillow

Basic Supplies You Will Need:

• Fabric (choose a fabric you like that is closely woven -- herbs can be messy in your bed! -- but somewhat thin and definitely soft. An option to sewing is to buy small pre-made drawstring muslin bags usually available at herbal stores.)
• Needle & thread
• Scissors
• Equal parts mugwort, lavender and hops
• Quartz crystal (optional)
• Bloodstone (optional)

If sewing your bag, sew three sides. Mix all herbs together and place them in the pillow. Add the crystal and then sew the last side closed. You can also place a bloodstone beneath your pillow as it will bring prophetic dreams. When doing magical dreamwork, remember to have your dream journal and pen by your bed to record any impressions. Before falling asleep, request a dream and the ability to remember it upon waking from whomever you believe in. When not using the pillow for dreamwork, place in a sealed container.

Prophetic Dream of Love

Needed:

• Same sewing supplies as above
• Rose petals
• Jasmine
• Celandine (or mugwort)
• Chamomile
• Rose Quartz

Mix the herbs together. The quantity of the herbs from greatest to smallest is: rose petals, celandine or mugwort, jasmine and then chamomile. Fill your dream pillow with the mixture. Add a rose quartz for love if desired. You may just have a dream of a love to come!

A Dream pillow for Sleeplessness

Can't sleep? Try this recipe for alleviating insomnia.

Needed:

• Same sewing supplies as above
• Dried hops
• A handful of lavender
• Amethyst crystal

Sprinkle the pillow with witch hazel or some other alcohol-based solution. This will bring out the active, sleep inducing agents in the hops "flowers". If you find the smell of hops offensive, add a handful of lavender. Replace the contents of the pillow every few months as hops lose their potency easily. You can place the amethyst under your pillow -- it will improve sleep and bring pleasant dreams.

A Dream Pillow for Relaxation

You will need:

• Sewing supplies
• Catnip, Chamomile, Lavender

Mix the herbs together. Quantities from largest to smallest: catnip, chamomile, lavender. Have a cup of skullcap and chamomile tea if on hand.

Stuffed Animal Dream Pillow

Supplies:

• A new Stuffed Animal
• 1 tablespoon each of lavender, marigold flower, rose petals
• Rose quartz (optional)
• Needle and thread, seam ripper

Mix the herbs together. Find a seam in a hidden place on the stuffed animal. Open the seam about two inches with the seam ripper. Put the herbs inside. Add the rose quartz if you have one. Sew up the seam tightly.
