HERBALISM
Herbs and their life-force energies have been utilized
since the dawn of mankind for food, shelter and medicine.
Other purposes of herbs and plants include food seasonings,
dyes, cosmetics, and use in magical and religious ceremonies.
Herbs and other plants contain the vitamins, essential oils,
mucilage, alkaloids and other natural ingredients that are
beneficial to the body, mind and spirit.
The roots, stems, leaves, flowers, berries, seeds and bark
of plants are used, either fresh or dried, in preparing herbs
for medicinal purposes and for consumption. There are numerous
ways in which to prepare herbs for internal and external use
to prevent, relieve and treat illness.

Words
to the Wise:
Nature provides remedies for most illnesses that afflict humans
and animals. Though plants and herbs come from nature, this
does not mean they cannot be dangerous! Unless you have experience,
seek out the advice of a knowledgeable herbalist and your
physician to learn about proper usage, dosage and any contraindications.
If you are planning on collecting herbs in the wild, pick
sparingly so you do not eliminate a species or disturb the
natural balance in the area. Never use any plant you can not
positively and accurately identify.
