BODYWORK

Although there are many types of bodywork to explore and choose from, on this page we will focus on Therapeutic Massage Therapy, Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage includes many disciplines. These include but are not limited to Swedish, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Prenatal, Aromatherapy, Deep tissue, Sports, Medical and Trigger point massage. Talking with an experienced and licensed massage therapist before your session will help determine what modality or combination of massage techniques are right for you.

Besides relaxation and pampering, massage is used in the treatment of many physical conditions. Massage is beneficial to our muscular, skeletal, lymphatic, nervous and circulatory systems. Because massage can create a balance of mind, body and spirit, it promotes health and wellness.

The effects of massage are cumulative. The more you receive, the more you are able to relax as the chronic patterns of stress held in the body are released.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese hands-on technique of energy healing. The word Reiki represents Universal Life Energy, which is subtle, spiritually guided life-force energy. Key elements of Reiki are the visualization of ancient symbols and the channeling of universal energy.

Reiki can relieve pain and stress, release and clear emotional blocks, stimulate natural healing and the immune system, reduce or eliminate side effects of conventional medicine and is very effective in the treatment of chronic and acute illness or injury.

Reiki is unique in many ways. Reiki can be learned by anyone with the desire to learn it and it can be used to heal humans, animals, plants -- anything with a life-force. Reiki is also commonly used for long distance healings by individual practitioners and groups.

The effects of Reiki are experiential and vary from person to person. Most people feel a sense of deep relaxation, a glowing radiance both within and without, a reduction in stress and the improvement in one's physical and psychological condition. Other effects of Reiki are altered states of consciousness, mystical experiences and visions, a state of peace and a more balanced and positive outlook. Reiki can also leave one feeling not only nurtured but also feeling a profound sense of love. These are felt by both client and practitioner.

Reiki is both gentle and safe.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a hands on modality that focuses on the Craniosacral system which consists of the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. This fluid has a subtle but detectable rhythm fluctuation. This system of the body extends from the cranium (skull) to the sacrum (tailbone).

Gentle pressure is used in Craniosacral Therapy to reduce tension and restore balance in the body. Craniosacral Therapy is used to treat stress, pain, lowered vitality, acute and chronic disease, emotional and psychological problems and to boost resistance to disease.

This technique is also used to locate and correct cerebral and spinal imbalances or blockages that cause motor-coordination problems and attention deficit disorders. Craniosacral Therapy can also be helpful for people suffering from central nervous system diseases and brain and spinal cord injuries.

Craniosacral Therapy is gentle and non-invasive.
