Astrology
is the study of the influences, positions, and aspects of
the stars and planets and is used to chart the past, present,
and future of human and earthly events.
HISTORY OF ASTROLOGY:
¥
The bond between man and the heavens throughout history and
the world has provided the inspiration in the creation of
rich and lasting mythologies.
¥
A tendency to fatalism was characteristic of early astrology.
The skies belonged to the gods, the Earth to man. The stars
and planets made it possible to foretell and interpret the
divine will.
¥
The Chaldeans of Babylonia were the founders of astral divination.
From this region also came the Zodiac. It is said they were
the first to understand the lunar influences on the tides
and observe the passage of Halley's comet. They also recognized
the sun as the center of the universe.
¥
The ruins of ancient civilizations are evidence that ancient
cultures had a depth of understanding of the course and cycles
of the planets. Astrology was synonymous with astronomy. Even
today, astronomy, an objective science, has been closely linked
to astrology, which seeks the transcendental meaning of existence.
¥
Astrology was very popular during the Middle Ages, and from
it came modern astronomy. It was divided into two types:judicial
astrology, used to foretell the fate and acts of nations and
individuals, and natural astrology, employed to predict events
of inanimate nature, such as weather changes.
